How To Get Your Prayers Answered

How to Get Your Prayers Answered

Have you ever wondered if there was a way to pray that might be more effective than what you’re doing now? Here are eight guidelines to maximize your prayer power:

1. Ask according to God’s will and Word–with tithes and offerings.

Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings. (Malachai 3:8)

2. Pray in faith and belief.

But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. (Hebrews 11:6)

3 . Ask specifically – know exactly what you want, and ask for it.

Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not. (James 4:2)

4. Ask for big things. Go for the gold! Ask for more than you “think” you can or should get. Jabez did it, and so can you! This is a clear indication of having BIG faith.

For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly. (Psalm 84:11) And – For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. 1Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. 1You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. (Jeremiah 29:11-13)

5. Ask in Jesus name.

And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it. (John 14: 13, 14)

6 . Confess your sins and ask God for forgiveness. “Confessing your sins” is so powerful because it inherently requires that you be aware (our of denial) of where you screwed up. So acknowledge your mistakes. Get out of denial, and ask for God’s forgiveness for not following His instructions.

If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word has no place in our lives. (1 John 1:8-10)

And yes, it does require you to surrender your ego. But if you can ask forgiveness from your spouse or employer when you screwed up, don’t you think God deserves at least that much courtesy?

7. For best results, pray with others.

Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. – For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them. (Matthew 18: 19-20)

Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. (James 5:16)

8 . Make sure you have forgiven others before you go asking God to forgive you. Not only is this concept at the heart of the Lord’s Prayer, but…

And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have aught against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses. But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses. (Mark 11:22-26)
